The hospital manager was booked for wrongful confinement and six rooms of the medical facility were sealed following preliminary investigation, Shajapur district collector Dinesh Jain said in an official release.

Laxminarayan Dangi, 60, who was admitted to the Shajapur City Hospital with stomach ache, was tied to the bed. His daughter Sheela Dangi alleged that the restraints were put after they failed to pay a medical bill of Rs 11,200. The hospital claimed that he was suffering from convulsions and was tied to prevent injury.

Collector Dinesh Jain said the matter was probed by a team led by a sub-divisional magistrate. Statements of Dangi’s relatives were recorded and their allegations were prima facie found to be true.
The Shajapur chief medical and health officer (CMHO) has suspended the licence and registration of Shajapur City Hospital till further orders. Institute manager Nitesh Sharma has been booked for illegal confinement.
Rooms number 1 to 6 were sealed in the presence of Shajapur City Hospital director Dr Varun Bajaj and the administration has banned the medical facility from operating till further orders.
