MUMBAI: Five youngsters are feared drowned in a waterfall in
Jawhar taluka
of
Palghar district
on Thursday. Search operation is on.
Jawhar police
said that a group of 13 boys from
Ambika chowk
in
Jawhar
had gone to the Kalmandvi waterfall, around seven kms away from their village.
At around 3pm, five of them got dangerously close to the waterfall. Eyewitness friends told the police that the boys slipped and fell off the waterfall.
Kalmandvi waterfall is a major attraction during monsoon. Despite restrictions on movement due to Covid-19, the boys went to the waterfall walking through tricky paths.
Search operation has begun. Families of the boys rushed to the spot on learning about the incident. Police said that they may have to call in a National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) to help in search operations.
